Berry Bowl
Wheel thrown high fire Coleman porcelain. Once the clay is dried to soft leather hard, the bowl is refined through trimming on the wheel. Holes are carefully placed by measuring and marking the location of each hole. Using a small tool, I delicately hand pierce the holes and clean using a small brush. The clay has a memory and any mistakes in the handling of each bowl are revealed once its fired.
A multi-step glaze process is applied using Celadon and Satin White to create a a beautiful surface.
Matcha Bowl
Wheel thrown high fire Coleman porcelain or Laguna 550 Porcelain. A short time after throwing, I alter the bowl by gently adding a spout. While working on the spout I try not to jeopardize the structural integrity of the bowl. Mistakes at this stage will cause the bowl to warp and only appear after the final firing when it can’t be repaired. After the clay dries to soft leather hard, I complete the final refinements and trim the foot of the bowl. All of my pieces can be identified by my artist makers mark. This bowl is glazed using the multi-step process of overlaying two glazes.
